Indefinite leave to remain (ILR)

Upon complying with the relevant immigration rules anyone who does not have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom indefinitely and unconditionally may apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR). ILR is often used synonamously with the term “settlement” in the UK. It is important to note that ILR / settlement does not automatically confer citizenship / nationality rights upon the holder of ILR. A separate application is required for citizenship / nationality.

NHIS will be happy to help you:

- assess whether or not you meet the requirements of the immigration rules to qualify for ILR

- assess whether or not you have the necessary supporting evidence to obtain ILR

- complete and submit your application, together with supporting evidence, in a manner which will satisfy the requirements of the immigration authorities
