Work Permits
There are three main categories of work permits issued by Work Permits (UK) to people from outside the EEA. These categories are: Business and Commercial; Training and Work Experience and Sports People and Entertainers. The Business and Commercial category is divided into two sub-categories known as Tier 1and Tier 2 applications. Tier 1 applications allow a UK based employer to employ someone from outside the EEA without the need to advertise the vacant post in question to UK residents (eg intra-company transfers & jobs in fields that are recognised by Work Permits (UK) as being shortage occupations). Tier 2 applications require UK based employers to advertise their vacant posts to UK residents and to convince Work Permits (UK) that applicants from outside the EEA are the only or most suitably qualified people to fill the vacancies in question.
